Sérgio Pimenta is the CEO of the Africa50 Infrastructure Acceleration Fund, leading efforts to mobilize large-scale commercial and institutional capital to close Africa’s infrastructure gap and deliver transformative impact. He previously served as IFC Vice President for Africa, overseeing a team of 1,000 staff and driving over US$74 billion in investments across 800+ projects, tripling IFC’s annual commitments on the continent. He also held senior global leadership roles in agribusiness, health, education, manufacturing, and services, with postings in Asia, MENA, and Washington. A French Portuguese national, he is a graduate of École Polytechnique and École des Ponts et chaussées, with executive training from Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, and IMD.
