Mariama Ciré Sylla is the new Minister of Economy, Finance, and Budget of the Republic of Guinea. She previously served as Minister of Agriculture from July 2025.
She has over twenty years of experience in trade, business strategy, private sector development, and finance, with in-depth expertise in several strategic sectors, including mining and agriculture.
Her career has spanned international roles in Africa, Europe, and the United States, working for leading institutions in both stable and fragile contexts.
Prior to joining the government, she was the World Bank Group’s Resident Representative in Namibia, where she provided strategic leadership for dialogue with national authorities and oversaw the portfolio of operations.
She also served as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Country Representative in Burundi, where she was responsible for program implementation and operational oversight, with a particular focus on private investment, job creation, and economic transformation.
Previously, she was the IFC Regional Coordinator for Fragile Countries, covering Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger, and Chad, where she led intervention strategies in complex environments with significant economic and institutional challenges.
