Alexei TIMOFTI

Alexei Timofti is a Trade Specialist in the Economic Research and Statistics Division of the WTO, covering the institution’s trade finance agenda, as well as the WTO relations with the IFC and other Development Finance Institutions.  Formerly, he was the Global Lead of Trade Advisory at the IFC’s Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP); as well the GTFP’s Head for Confirming Banks, U.S. and Europe.  Prior to IFC, Mr. Timofti served as Chief Counsel of a SME development program within the Ministry of Economy and Trade of Moldova, was a lecturer of Intellectual Property and Commercial Law, and in-house attorney in the legal department of the largest commercial bank in Moldova.  Mr. Timofti holds an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from the George Washington University Law School and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management.
