Buah Saidy became the Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia on
October 1, 2020. Mr. Saidy is a seasoned Economist with vast international
experience in economic management, fiscal policy, research, statistics,
and a broader range of public finance management topics. He joined the
Central Bank of The Gambia as a clerk in 1981 and rose through the ranks
to become the Director of the Economic Research Department in 2010.
His appointment followed a solid career as a research economist at the
Central Bank and a stint as a senior advisor at the International Monetary
Fund (IMF) Headquarters in Washington, DC. Recently, he was also
elected as the Chairman of the Association of African Central Banks.
Before assuming his current role, he served as the Permanent Secretary
of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs
