Since its inception in 2021, by the Jeune Afrique Media Group and the Africa CEO Forum, the Africa Financial Summit (AFIS) has been committed to accelerating the development and integration of the African financial services industry. By fostering connections between public and private sector leaders, AFIS promotes dynamic collaboration and innovative solutions that benefit everyone.

Convinced that an efficient African financial sector is essential for economic growth and prosperity across the continent, AFIS has established itself as the premier pan-African platform, uniting visionaries, innovators and policymakers dedicated to transforming the African financial sector. We facilitate continent-wide dialogue and collaboration to strengthen Africa’s macroeconomic resilience. We bring together public and private sector leaders to mitigate systemic risks, boost cross-border cooperation and help build a stable, pan-African financial architecture by fostering integration initiatives such as banking union and regulatory harmonisation.

COMMERCIAL BANKING OUTLOOK

We bring together leading bankers, policymakers and innovators to strengthen capital adequacy, improve risk management and leverage big and open data. Our goal is to build a secure, agile and data-driven commercial banking sector that drives growth, promotes inclusion and builds trust across Africa.

CAPITAL MARKETS & ASSET MANAGEMENT

We promote the development of vibrant capital markets by supporting equity and debt funding solutions, and by advancing capital markets integration. Through expert dialogue and multi-stakeholder engagement, we aim to mobilise long-term financing for Africa’s real economy, generating opportunities for asset growth and innovation.

IMPACT & SUSTAINABILITY

We are committed to embedding sustainability and responsible finance at the heart of Africa’s financial sector transformation. We advocate for climate finance initiatives and play a role in defining ESG standards tailored to Africa, enabling capital to flow towards sustainable development and resilient communities.

EXPANDING INSURANCE

We cultivate collaboration to reshape Africa’s insurance and reinsurance industries. By exploring risk-based capital models, guarantee schemes and inclusive insurance innovations, we support solutions that increase protection and trust, and make insurance accessible to all Africans.

DIGITAL FINANCIAL SERVICES & FINTECH

We connect fintech innovators, regulators and industry leaders to unleash the transformative potential of digital finance. Our focus is on decentralised finance, microcredit and microsavings, and artificial intelligence, with the aim of driving financial inclusion and promoting technological leapfrogging by the continent’s financial industry.

OUR GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK

Guided by an effective governance framework, AFIS is led by two key bodies that provide strategic direction and oversee the operational execution of the initiative: the Supervisory Council and the Steering Committee. Thanks to their leadership, AFIS continues to enhance the profile of Africa’s financial landscape on the global stage.
