How AFIS 2024 Mobilised Africa’s Financial Power
In 2024, the AFIS Annual Summit, held for the first time in Morocco, brought together over 1,250 leaders from the African financial industry, as well as nearly 40 ministers and central bank governors. The event resulted in the signing of 20 memoranda of understanding.
With the theme of ‘A NEW ERA: TIME TO MOBILISE AFRICA’S FINANCIAL POWER’, this edition of the summit focused on concrete solutions for creating an inclusive, sustainable and innovative African financial system that can respond to the challenges of climate transition and digital transformation.
African and international leaders discussed various strategies, such as depositing funds and integrating financial technologies, as well as regulatory harmonisation within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). These strategies are crucial for creating an integrated financial environment.
